The accounts of Luke in Acts show clearly the commitment, conviction and courage of the early disciples. They took the Great Commission seriously and were not afraid to bear the consequences as followers of Christ, the Messiah. The world they were living in was by no means friendly towards the Gospel. It was hostile toward their faith and beliefs.

How did the early Christians not only survive but grew and impacted their world? How did they live out their Christian distinctiveness in an oppressive environment? The course will study the life and witness of the Early Church and draw vital lessons that we can apply to our life and witness today.

Encountering God is not a people-centered program. The day will not focus on exhortation, but on experiencing God. Facilitators will provide experiences of prayer and worship designed to enable you to draw away from the demands of everyday life to center on spending quality time with God.

As we enounter God in Spirit-empowered worship, we will never be the same again. Encountering God always brings change. Worship wil be blended to include both traditional and contemporary styles of praise and worship. Come to experience worship that binds up the broken-hearted and sets the captives free.

In today’s pluralist society our neighbors and friends are likely to belong to other religions. Even within the family unit it is common to find parents, spouse, children and siblings embracing different faiths. It is helpful for us to understand some of the practices and underlying beliefs in other religions. It is also of utmost importance for Christians to know what the Bible teaches about the uniqueness of the Christian faith.
